No nonsense style: Pin-Up Vixen and Modern Sparkle Girl

When I was selected by No nonsense to put together two outfits using their tights and leggings, the first thing that popped into my mind was which side of my style would I blog about? Vintage pin up girl, or modern sparkle girl? Luckily I didn’t have to choose because they sent me the perfect tights and leggings to do both!

As a wardrobe stylist I find that the proper legwear is essential for a polished look. No nonsense tights and leggings make great basic, as well as splashy colors for a variety of really fun looks!

The denim leggings I received are perfect for my glamorous Pin-up girl side. I paired the leggings with a flirty hot pink sweater from Ann Taylor Loft that totally reminded me of a Vargas girl, so I used that as my inspiration. Sex kitten hair and polka dot heels completed the look. That and my tiny dog Miss Crickette. (She was an unexpected accessory because while my husband was trying to take the photo, she kept wandering in the shot!)

My modern girl sparkle side was happy too. The simple black tights were perfect for showcasing some serious pattern mixing. My favorite thing about them was how matte and opaque they are. Some tights are a tad too sheer to really pull off the drama of contrast. I love complementing textures. The paillette sparkle tee from Ann Taylor Loft was perfect with the polka dot skirt for Nordstrom. I threw dot on dot together with  sexy Marc Jacobs pumps that have multi colored stitched dots. I finished the look with a handmade fascinator by me! I used some feathers from chickens I used to have! How crazy is that?

I went with neutral colors with my modern outfit, but I can totally see using red tights for a little added pop of color.

Your leg wear should be comfortable, unfussy and feel great. The worst is when your tights are binding! UGH! I loved the No nonsense tights because they were super comfy and slimming without the commitment of having to wear shape wear. No nonsense was great for all around comfort, great looks, and affordability.

Making Spirits Bright

Audrey Hepburn is known for her iconic little black dress and pearls in Breakfast at Tiffany’s. But it was her pink party dress with jeweled tiara that really spoke to me. She glittered with spirit in that dress.

I recently found a vintage, pink lace dress on Etsy. It was one of those meant-to-be finds in which the color, size and style were perfect, so I snapped it up. It has become my favorite party dress of all time. I feel so glamorous when I wear it, like I am channeling the spirit of Audrey herself.

Pink diamante drop earrings, and gold showgirl glitter platform shoes are my go-to glamour girl accessories. When I wear the whole outfit, I feel like Paris on a Saturday night and Holly Golightly put together. I could dance all night in my glitter showgirl peep toes!

My holiday toast this year is:

“Cheers to pink, hurray to glamour, and hallelujah glitter!”

Here is how you can make your spirits bright with pink:

♥ Paint your nails pink then add silver glitter polish to the tips.

♥ Dip the rim of your cocktail glass in rosewater, and then dunk in pink sugar for a glamorous beverage presentation.

♥ Wear a collection of pink vintage brooches on your coat.

♥ Wear all black with a hot pink scarf.

♥ Do a smoky eye makeup with ladylike hot pink lips.

♥ Add vintage pink millinery roses to your holiday up-do.

♥ Put pink Marshmallows in your hot cocoa or Baileys.
